You can see it's been a long time Since I stood here on a stage So much has happened in the meantime Like the turning of a page And if I step into the spotlight Then maybe - it all comes back But I've been hiding in the daylight In plain sight - from way back… I hit the ground hard Down by the bone yard Like Icarus I fell from the sky I got up somehow And I am back now These wings are fixed and waiting to fly My loving friends and those who need me Keep me rooted here below But work and home often fatigue me And leave me - nowhere to go But everything comes round full circle Time turns out to be my friend And maybe all that long rehearsal Will pay off - in the end… I hit the ground hard Down by the bone yard Like Icarus I fell from the sky I got up somehow And I am back now These wings are fixed and waiting to fl

Old Growth 05:53
When everything that we ever knew Hangs in the balance Whichever way we turn brings us yet Another challenge And every step along the road Takes us a step back Back to the old track - we know That's when I long to get away Back to the old growth Where I can stand still and simply gaze Lost in wonder And try to find my way again While there is still time If there is still time - to choose We do this right - and love still grows So hold me tight - don't let me go But can we really justify This golden existence We’ve made mistakes - that we can't deny Through our interference And now it’s time to listen to Those elder voices Those wiser choices - anew We do this right - and love still grows So hold me tight - don't let me go We do this right - and love still grows So hold me tight - don't let me go

Days go by When can we meet again - face to face? Eye to eye But how I really long for your embrace If we try To make it through the night right to the end Will you still be my friend? Things I miss There's coffee and a chat - one to one Summer bliss With music in the park - in the sun A stranger’s kiss I'd love to see your face without a mask That’s all I ask We thought we knew all the words to the songs We'd sung them before but it turns out we were wrong Our voices were drowned by the howls of the mob Were we really awake or were we sleeping on the job Things we knew Will never be the way they were before For me and you There's lessons to be learned we can’t ignore All that's true But many words were written all in haste All such a waste We thought we knew all the words to the songs We'd sung them before but it turns out we were wrong Our voices were drowned by the howls of the mob Were we really awake or were we sleeping on the job We thought we knew all the words to the songs We'd sung them before but it turns out we were wrong Our voices were drowned by the howls of the mob Were we really awake or were we sleeping on the job

When the quiet calm of evening comes And dusk fades to grey When each heartless race is lost or won At least for the day At last this weary body Can stretch out on the ground When I - lay my burden down At the end of the day In this miracle play At the end of the day I have nothing to say Is it really how you play the game Rather than why? Can those two imposters be the same Or is that a lie? Will there be a reckoning A calling to account Or will - I be left without At the end of the day In this miracle play At the end of the day I have nothing to say …Except - I love you I love you I love you

Mood Music 03:50
Misty again Beauty and pain It seeps through the valleys Hangs in the trees Harder than rain It dampens the spirit And smothers the flame It's misty again It's cloudy today Battleship grey The perfect disguise Lowering skies Day after day This weight on my shoulders Is pressing me down But this vain introspection Isn’t good for the soul And my quest for perfection Is out of control So I turn up the music Feel it flow through my heart and my veins Like a rhythm transfusion Till my spirit is flying again It doesn’t seem right These dangerous nights Anxiously waiting For someone to save me And make it alright When I know there are others Far worse off than I And this vain introspection Is no good for my soul And my quest for perfection Is out of control So I turn up the music Feel it flow through my heart and my veins Like a rhythm transfusion Till my spirit is flying again Yes I turn up the music Feel it flow through my heart and my veins Like a rhythm transfusion Till my spirit is flying again

Hummingbirds and dragonflies Chickadees and Cabbage Whites Dancing through the summer skies They mesmerise Lost in thought - that's nothing new Dreaming an idyllic view Remembered hills of hazy blue That I once knew Summer days - just slip away As time takes flight Each moment passed - melds with the last And fades from sight All I am - and all I've been Will evanesce - the slate wiped clean Nothing to be seen Hummingbirds and dragonflies Chickadees and Cabbage Whites Dancing through the summer skies They mesmerise The day will come - before too long To say goodbye - then I'll be gone They'll still be here - the dance goes on The dance goes on…

It's cold out on the foreshore - though the storm has passed The days are getting longer but the light's still fading fast The moon calls on the wind - to chase the clouds away I wait above the strandline to escape the drifting spray The moon breaks clear and rising - lights the mountainside An hour yet to go before the highest Easter tide The flotsam and the jetsam - dancing on the swell Heavy with the promise of the many tales to tell I am the ocean wave - the wind over the sea Out in the sound - I'm homeward bound - the salmon swimming free I am the eagle - watching from the gloom I've chased the wind but who can tell the ages of the moon I tried to read the signals but the lights have disappeared I don't know what I'm searching for or if I'll find it here Could there be inspiration - in the foaming surge Or might I wait the long night through for something to emerge? I am the ocean wave - the wind over the sea Out in the sound - I'm homeward bound - the salmon swimming free I am the eagle - watching from the gloom I've chased the wind but who can tell the ages of the moon

Will you remember my name When all is said and done Or has the slow fade begun I guess we all want the same A moment in the sun That still means something when it's gone But are we losing our touch Unsure how far we should go Sometimes we want things so much We hurt those who know - us Will you remember my name And after what I've done Will I still be - the one But pride will lead us astray And hubris make us blind To the price we must pay For what we leave behind So take what you need but no more And cherish this precious world before We lose it all - completely With all of your love surround it But leave it the way we found it Wherever you step - tread lightly
9.
Sometimes nothing can prepare us Sometimes there's no knowing why Sometimes we just cling together Sometimes we cry When we see the forests burning When we watch a friendship die When we're not alone in grieving Sometimes we cry Tears that fall - become a flowing river They're washed away - down to the sea And lost for ever When we're overwhelmed and helpless When there's nothing else to try When no words can bring us comfort Sometimes we cry Sometimes we just cling together Sometimes we cry

Soul Making 04:35
I just want to say Thank you every day For the gifts that you bestow And that it seems to me Your generosity Is the cup that overflows All the things you bring Each precious offering And all the ways you help me grow In a quiet place In a state of grace I wait in hope that something shows It's a mystery And contradictory How it works nobody knows The muse comes suddenly So I wait patiently And when she comes, she comes and goes It's a gift - for the taking Pass it on - hand shaking Even if - your heart is aching Don't give up - we're soul making Such talents that you see Don't belong to me I'm just a guardian in fact And when the work is done I get to pass it on All that is good is given back The gift should always be In motion - there can be No good excuse for holding back It's a gift - for the taking Pass it on - hand-shaking Even if - your heart is aching Don't give up - this soul making Hold tight - stay strong Breathe deep - live long You won’t go wrong - if you Sing your own song Dig deep - fight on Don't leave things undone Walk tall but don't run You'll know when the game's won Stay out - til dawn Don’t sleep til the day’s gone Your gift will flow on Pass it on

about

When considering how to follow up their second album - 2020's "Winter Blue and Evergreen" - Siobhan and Andy agreed that the new release should reflect the gratitude and positivity they both feel on overcoming the challenges of living through and making music during the pandemic.

The new album "Soul Making" is a very collaborative effort with ten new songs touching on topics such as second chances, ancient wisdom, the power of music, inspiration and creativity, the nature of gifts and the importance of giving - and love… the very essence of soul making.

With the lifting of the pandemic lockdown, Siobhan and Andy were once again able to record together. As a result Siobhan’s voice has been captured with even greater richness and immediacy than was possible before and the collection focuses in particular on her distinctive harmony work. Arrangements and sounds have been simplified and pared back, allowing the full emotional impact of the songs to shine through.

Siobhan and Andy are particularly grateful to Troy Cook for his extraordinary and beautiful cover art, which managed to capture the essence of the album perfectly.
